Can you believe it?
The folks over at My Memories contacted me to try their scrap booking software for FREE! And hey, if it's FREE, it's for me. Mkay, moving on. I have been known to have made a scrap book or
My solution to this was to download everyday photos into sites and have them bound into hardcover photo books. They were nice, but offered little in the way of editing, embellishments, and decorative backgrounds. So, when I checked out My Memories, I was excited to see the editing possibilities.
The download took about 30 minutes. I'm sure those of you with a higher speed connection could complete the download faster, but hey, I'm a simple girl with DSL.
Upon opening the site, there are several prompts that ask you what you'd like to do.
The first time I was on the site, I will admit I was a bit lost. I had to download additional papers and embellishments before I could get started. I started with some of the free features, and then quite honestly, got frustrated and went to bed. I don't do well with new technical processes, at all. I know, shocking.
The next day, I tried again and had a much better experience. Not only can I edit photos, I can remove red eye, frame, highlight, shadow box, and overlay each picture exactly the way I'd like. I can add text, choose from tons of fonts and colors, and even curve the shape of it. Tonight I decided to get a little creative and do a "before" page of the Boy Cave...
Now here's a great part. I can print it on my computer or download it to their print shop and have the entire album sent to me in a book. So, if I was the type of girl who actually paid attention to the amount of ink in her printer cartridge, and stocked good paper within it, I could print my own pages and just pop them in a book. I am not that kind of girl. So I just saved it to my hard drive.

PS... Please check here to see if you have the system requirements necessary to support the software. I'd hate to blow up your computer, on Valentine's Day no less.

It sounds great for those of you not still in the Stone Age. I DO have a cell phone, but it doesn't even take pictures.
ReplyDeleteDSL is good - there are still many folks on dial-up, really slow wireless plans or even worse...Satellite Internet. Good look with Scrapbook #14
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how frustrating it would be to navigate at first but the payoff is going to be great. :) I have so many hobbies that occupy my time between stitching, reading, and writing (2 blogs and a novel I'm still working on) that I have no time for my scrapbooking anymore.
ReplyDeleteMy friend recently got a cricket machine and has gone paper crafting crazy. I just can't seem to get back into it. I think it is great for families to time line their lives, accomplishments, and trips with a scrapbook though. :) Yay for you.
I haven't scrapped in 5 years. *hangs head in shame* I've got a closet full of supplies, photos printed out, photos waiting to print, and no motivation. SIGH. I doubt a computer program would help me either.
ReplyDeleteI've thought (over and over) about going digital. Or adding a house to my house to fit all the scrapbook stuff and mess.
ReplyDeleteDo you miss the 3D element? The textures?
That's what has held me back.
ALTHOUGH!
I am so tempted... it looks so.... easy.
I must say that for the big stuff (Disney trip, NYC, Washington DC), I do love the dimensional papers. Tony actually requested a "real" Juli scrapbook for the wedding album. But, for the everyday things, like first days, look at this awesome flower, or random basket ball pictures, the printed pages are fabulous! I use the top load plastic pockets in a nice binder and just pop them in. It keeps the books kid proof. :) and makes it easy to switch pages around.
DeleteSounds like fun Julianna. Good luck with the give away. I'll be sure to check it out. :) Thx.
ReplyDeleteWould love to hear what cha think! :)
DeleteI don't do girly stuff like scrap booking. I'm way too macho. And I'm also not good at girly stuff like scrap booking.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Oh, but the software doesn't discriminate Junebug! :) You can be anyone you want to be.
DeleteThen who should I be? I've been searching for an identity.
DeleteLove,
Janie
Well I can't see what I'm writing or what you wrote. I'm just hoping my fingers are on the right keys as I am alone today. I just wanted to tell you thank you for coming to visit me. My favorite part of the day is when Meaghan reads all my comments to me and I usually get a few laughs and that warm feeling. Take care of yourself so you don't end up like me. Not fun.. Big hugs girl and know I'm thinking of you.
