Sunday Snapshot...

It's Sunday.

My day of rest.

The day I should be wearing these all day....

Otherwise known as my "mama bear" slippers.

But no.

We spent the day doing demo, abolishing mold...

and moving electrical outlets while removing walls...

and questioning my sanity.

Next weekend is the ceiling and recessed lighting.

Lord help us all.

10 Survival Tips:

  1. Looking good. And just think, it will be over soon and you can enjoy it for many years to come. I love all the natural light.

When can I come for dinner? heehee

  2. Can't wait Skippy! Drywall guy comes next Monday, then we have to paint and do the floor. In the mean time I'm scouring the internet to find exactly what I want for furniture, as the kitchen table's not cutting it lately. It's looking like bench seating in the nook area (with storage underneath) and a large hutch with shelves on either side for more storage. I removed the wall next to the back door so we could use the area near the stairs for coats and stuff.

    We'll get there...

Then I'm thinking I should finally finish the boys rooms. :)

  3. I feel your pain. I really DO!! I know all too well the horrors of remodeling!

The picture of your kitchen table hit a nostalgic note with me because I used to have one just like it - until I came home one day and found my hubby chopped it up for firewood.

  4. good grief, how do you get anything in or out of the bookcase without falling down the stairs? Me, being the accident-prone person I am, would forever be falling.

  5. Lil dreamer - I got the table from my Mom's. It's actually like 20 years old. We are down to three chairs though. :( Most likely we'll keep the table, just go to benches around the nook.

ADoC - There is actually 2 1/2 feet of space on the ledge. You just can't see it with all the crap in the way. I'm not gonna lie though, back by the window is scary. The book cases are coming out and I think I'm doing a whole bunch of hanging plants there. Maybe. :)

  6. Girl, are you crazy?

I am tired just reading this...

    Just saying.

I am sure it will be all worth it after the construction is done.

    You are my hero!

  7. I have those slippers. Only they're hot pink and go halfway up my calves. (moo)

I also have that table. But the chairs I have are waaaay more expensive. Ethan Allen.

Not that I bought them there, I got them for 11 bucks apiece at Goodwill.

Drywall is actually sort of fun to do. You should do it so you can put subtle little designs in the wall texture. :)

  8. I think you should wear slippers WHILE doing home improvent projects.....

  9. I always wear my slippers while working around the house and I even wear them to scoop poop because if I step in some they're very easy to wash. Mine are not as pretty as yours, though. Your house will be so beautiful. I'm envious. My house is nice, but I'd like more interesting colors on the walls. Something more dramatic. If I could paint, I would paint pretty pictures in bright colors directly on the walls. In our house in Maryland, I let The Hurricane paint on the half-wall by our front door. She copied Van Gogh's Starry Night and The Yellow Bedroom. We had to paint over them when we put the house up for sale. Some day museum curators will cry because her early paintings weren't preserved. Recessed lighting is nice.

    Love,
    Janie "Lola"
